UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

NEW SLETTER

November MMVII

UNITED METHODIST MEN

“Men are called to model the servant leadership of Jesus Christ”

The men of Parker UMC met on Sunday, October 7th and voted to hire a contractor to seal the asphalt on the parking lot.

UNITED METHODIST WOMEN

The ladies of Parker UMC did not meet in  October but are working on the following projects:

Mother’s Day Out Saturday October 27th from 10 until 2pm.

The first Jared’s boxes have been filled and delivered to Cape Fear Valley ’s Children’s Center. Thanks again to all who donated to help with this service project. These boxes will provide some fun and enjoyment to critically ill children confined to the hospital. We are currently working on a second batch since they were so well received.

The Shoe box ministry project deadline is creeping up on us. Boxes will be due in by the end of October. We will be putting out a list of items to fill your boxes with – just remember NO war toys (this includes GI Joes and military vehicles as well as guns) and NO liquids. Watch and listen for further information.

Also in the works is a raffle fundraiser to benefit the Scholarship Fund. Look for more information on this in the future.

Continue to pray for all of our deployed soldiers and their families. We continue to send notes and packages to the soldiers and will add any to our list if you have a loved one serving out of country.

Our next monthly meeting will be held on Sunday November 18, 2007 at 3pm. We promise to have plenty of warm fellowship to share.

UNITED METHODIST YOUTH FELLOWSHIP

The youth fellowship raised $384.00 dollars on October 21st when 13 members participated in the CROP Walk for Hunger. The 10 Kilometer (6.2 miles) walk along the Cape Fear River trail was an afternoon well spent as the youth enjoyed the scenery of God’s Creation in a leisurely stroll or pushed their body to run the distance. Thanks to all the adults who helped by sponsoring the walkers.
